Teeth Whitening
The only cosmetic dental treatment that changes nothing permanently. A peroxide gel is activated in the clinic to lift stain from within the enamel, then take-home trays maintain it. We put this page here deliberately: a significant share of people who arrive asking for twenty veneers want a shade change, and this achieves it for a fraction of the cost with the teeth left intact.
Whitening is the right first step when
- Your teeth are healthy and well-shaped, just darker than you want
- Staining is from coffee, tea, red wine or smoking
- You are considering veneers but have not tried this first
- You want a change with nothing irreversible done
Whitening will not fix
- Existing crowns, veneers or white fillings — they do not lighten
- Deep tetracycline staining, which usually needs veneers
- Shape, chips or gaps — those are a bonding or veneer question
- A single dark root-treated tooth — that needs internal whitening
What the appointment involves
- 01
Check and clean
Decay and gum health checked first — whitening over untreated decay is painful and pointless. A scale and polish is done beforehand.
- 02
Shade recorded
Your starting shade is photographed against a guide in daylight so the change is measurable rather than a matter of opinion.
- 03
Gum protection
A resin barrier is applied along the gum line. This step is what separates a comfortable session from a chemical burn.
- 04
Gel and activation
Peroxide gel applied in two or three cycles, activated with light. You sit for roughly an hour.
- 05
Result recorded
Final shade photographed against the same guide, in the same light, so you can see exactly what changed.
- 06
Take-home trays
Custom trays and top-up gel issued, with instructions on the 48-hour white diet that protects the result.
